What is nanotechnology?

•در فناوری نانو سه ویژگی زیر در نظر گرفته می شود:

•1) تحقیقات در سطوح اتمی، مولکولی و یا ماکرومولکولی در مقیاس 1 تا 100 نانومتر

•2) خلق و استفاده از ساختارها و ابزار و سیستمهایی که به خاطر اندازه کوچک خواص و عملکرد نوینی دارند.

•3) توانایی کنترل یا دستکاری در سطوح اتمی

تاریخچه

•بودجه تحقیقاتی آمریکا در زمینه نانوتکنولوژی در سال 2002 در حدود 500 میلیون دلار، در سال 2004 در حدود 850 میلیون دلار و در سال 2005 به یک بیلیون دلار رسیده است.

•در طی سالهای 2003 تا 2006 کمیسیون اروپا در حدود 1/3 بیلیون دلار در راستای توسعه نانوتکنولوژی هزینه کرده است.

Medical application of nanotechnology=Nanomedicine

•NIH در زمینه نانوتکنولوژی و ترویج آن یک برنامه 4 ساله اعلام کرد. در این برنامه استفاده از نانوتکنولوژی در پیش گیری، تشخیص و درمان بیماری ها مد نظر بوده است.

برای اولین بار در سال 2000، دوازده دانشجوی مقطع PhD در رشته نانوبیوتکنولوژی در دانشگاه Cornell مشغول به تحصیل شدند و دانشگاههای دیگر هم فعالیت در این زمینه آغاز کردند
